We are an inclusive choir with between 100 and 130 singers each year – all ages and abilities, no auditions required!

We are lucky enough to have the talented Aaron Silver as our choir leader for 2020 with a superlative repertoire you are going to love.

In recent years our choir has incorporated a collaboration with a visiting artist (Shane Howard in 2017, The Northern Folk in 2018, The Maes in 2019). We have benefited from high quality choir leadership for many years – and while our choir leader is paid a fee, you would not do it for money alone!

We are committed to developing capacity and skills of people in our community to lead and accompany the choir and have made the decision that from 2020 we will incorporate a paid accompanist into the choir leadership team.  This will offer valuable support to the choir leader as well as enable us to develop further skills in musicians in our community, hopefully creating future choir leaders.

For the first time in (our) living memory, we have made the decision to increase our fees.  The fees will increase by $10 per membership, meaning that a single choir membership will now be charged at $30 and a family choir membership at $40. Arts Yack membership will remain the same, meaning that total choir participation costs (inclusive of Arts Yack membership) will be $50 for single membership and $70 for family membership.

We no longer have a choir concession but would like to emphasise that if cost is a barrier to participating in the choir then we would like to hear from you. We are committed to an inclusive choir so please email or call us if cost is the thing holding you back and we can come to an arrangement that works for you. We would also invite you to contact us if you have specific needs that we can accommodate.

This increase in choir fees will enable us to build a small fund to pursue further opportunities for choir development, including training opportunities for our choir leadership or additional music workshops we can offer during the year.
